Experimental study on the behavior of eccentrically compressed reinforced concrete columns strengthened with CFRP composite sheets

Strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) columns is needed when the actual load-carrying capacity does not reach required level due to either structural deterioration or increasing acting loads. This experimental study aims evaluate strengthening effect on eccentrically-compressed RC using Carbon fiber polymer (CFRP) sheets, that confine around column cross-section. Three specimens with same geometrical dimensions, reinforcement detailing, and compressive strength were cast tested in current investigation. One without being strengthened referred as control specimen whereas two other partially by CFRP sheets. All three axially loaded initial eccentricity e0 80 mm. Based test results such ultimate capacity, load-rotation relationship, load-curvature at middle height, effectiveness technique discussed.
